I used a 45l Neve backpack to walk 280km of Caminho, very light and strong
Barbara K.
I’ve used it twice on overnight 2 day hikes. I love the large hip pockets. Although it might be a bit squeezy I’m feeling confident to take it on a 5 day hike next week

Just finished a Euro trip. Used the pack as carry on luggage on flights and buses across Europe. Also used it as my hiking pack on 4 day hike through Albania and day trips in Slovenia. Versatile with loads of pockets and useful straps. Highly recommend and price is better than many other UL packs on the market.

just got the pack and it looks great, has all the features I need, can't wait to get it out on the trail or the snow.....
Judith R.
As described, very light and comfortable with a great capacity. I haven't used it much yet but am looking forward to a longer backpacking trip.

Received my pack in a good timeframe and then tested it on the Grampian Peaks Trail. All my gear fitted nicely in the 45 litre pack. It was light but comfortable carrying 13 to 14 kilos.
The netting on the front pouch snagged and got a small hole which I have stitched. Not the packs fault.
I will be using it again for the Larapinta and expect the same performance.
As a 71 year old still hiking a comfortable light pack is a good thing.
Did I say it was also well priced compared with other light weight packs.
All up I am happy to far with the pack.

It’s awesome! So well designed and fits perfectly. Hardly knew I was carrying it. I love the detail pockets on the chest straps as I am carrying a hand held radio for work and it fits in securely.

Got this pack to see what all the lightweight fuss was about and I wasn't disappointed!
I took this pack on 4 day trip (14kg load) in the cradle mountain region, this included hours of bushbashing through rough untracked terrain.
After this strenuous trip not only did my body feel fine where the bag was resting, but the pack was absolutely spotless which was to my surprise seeing as scoparia did some serious damage to my legs
I would absolutely recommend this pack to anyone wanting to try a lightweight alternative!

Solid backpack, I'm happy with the purchase. Few things I love: it's light, simple, shoulder strap pockets are super convenient for your phone or water bottles. Shove-it mesh pocket is nice. Few things I'd change: make shove-it pocket 20% larger; add quick release clips to side compression cords, as it's a pain trying to shove something tall to the side pockets when backpack is full (eg. my tent); make back panel breathable or (gasp) even use a trampoline back system (honestly, I'd kill for having it on this backpack).
Need to mention weird sizing: me being 184 cm tall and the Large size was way too large for me (shoulder straps wise), had to go with Medium, which fit nicely. Also amazing service from NeveGear - shipping was fast, customer service was super great, very happy!

Can t say much as it didn't fit me :-( ..... but Ryan was great with his no hassle returns policy, so no risk trying it out.

I can't believe how well this bag carries the weight. Had it loaded up with mine and a lot of my partners gear for a 3 night trip (plus a couple of cold beers for night #1) and at around 15kg it carried on my hips like a dream impressive for a bag that weighs less than 900gms. Has just the right amount of features and nothing that you don't. An absolute steal for the price. Need to get my Wallaroo quilt now!

I love this pack. I recently took it out on a 5 day walk along the du cane range in Tasmania. We did a fair bit of bush bashing along the way and the pack help up really well. I was carrying up to 18 kg with all my gear, food and water and felt super comfortable. I really liked using the pouches for my phone and sunglasses for easy access. Also my water bottles wouldn't fall out easily when I was going through the bush. It was really handy having the large external mesh pouch, to have my lunch for that day and also easy accessible rain pants and jacket. All in all I really enjoy this pack and looking forward using it for my upcoming HRP thru hike

Very happy with my pack. I have only tried it walking around town at this stage, loaded with 12kg it was very comfortable. I am planning on using it for the Bibbulmun Track later this year.
Looks well made with all the features I needed. Service and shipping went smoothly.

Just took it on the overland track in Tassie and it was great. Super comfoprtable, really light, and all the pockets are great to put snacks and other items in so you can easily access them without taking off the pack.
Trin H.
Loved it. Six days on the Overland and it handled it perfectly. Size Large, im 183cm and 85kg but finely built and wondering if I could have gone size small. Just was using almost the entirety of the should straps and sat just above my butt.
I had about 15/16kg and handled it great. I had room to spare with 10kg base weight.
Meshing didn't rip at all even with some bush bashing. No complaints.

A great looking hiking pack straight out of the box and ready to go. Planning to use it on a multiday hike soon so will see how it goes but have completed a few 5-10km walks with 12kg in the last few weeks to test out the fit. Performed well so far, the hip belt is comfortable and easy to find the right tension. Very useful and well thought out pockets all around. Internal space looks like it will be more than enough to carry what I need.

The wallaroo pack, this is the best budget ultra light pack available in Aus for sure. As far as I can see anyway. So keeping in mind the price and the weight of it, I’d definitely give it 4 stars. It’s super comfortable, plenty of adjustment.
Plenty of internal and external space for any trip.
Things that I would change;
Instead of the fold up top clipping to itself I’d have it clip down to the sides of the pack, this way it can be cinched down tight and also clipping it to itself makes a big bowl shape on top perfect for rain and debris to get caught.
I’d shorten the top load strap
I would move the shoulder straps down where they starch to the pack at the top to move the entire pack further up my back.
I would add straps around the bottom to tie dirty gear onto etc.
So these are all compromises made for the price of this pack, you can’t beat it with value for money. And customer service! These guys are amazing to deal with. Thanks Neve!

Ok firstly well done Ryan and Neve gear. Functional and well-designed outdoor gear and really economical price. I don't quite know how they do it.
Firstly - the design, it is pretty minimal but that's exactly what I was after. Yes this pack will leave you with a sweaty back coz there's no mesh panel in the back. But that's why it weighs and costs less. The metal U frame is a nice bit of ingenuity - its a smallish gauge but it works and doesn't need to be any bigger.
Secondly - the size and sizing. I'm 186cm tall and 94kgs and the large size is a seriously comfortable fit. The 58 litres is really useable and will easily handle sleeping bag/quilt, inflatable mat, 2 person tent and spare clothes & coat with really adequate space for cooking gear and food - ideal for a weekend trip but in good weather should get 3 to 4 days stuff in quite ok. I suspect overall weight will be the limiting factor - says 18kg limit but I would struggle to get 18kgs worth of gear into 58 litre pack. Sidepockets hold litre sized bottles the front sleeve is stretchy and very useable, but non-adjustable top (nothing to tighten, wonder if it will lose stretchiness over time? One way to find out). Hipbelt includes zippered pockets will be interested to see how the zips fare over time but they are a really useable size for pocket camera, snacks, gps/plb etc.
The shoulder straps are unpadded material but they are really wide, I carried about 10kgs for a 3 hr walk to try it out and comfort was really good, no rubbing on the arms as they swing past the straps.
This pack weighs so little that on a windy day it would blow away if it were empty. Material feels similar to other packs I've had for years that has stood up to regular use.
Other details? the side bungees that don't have any plastic hardware, they're just tied in a knot through the material. Simple as.
I always liked the 'go light, go fast, go far' idea but usually skimped on things to do it. I think this makes that more do-able and I reckon we'll be seeing loads of these out on the tracks.
Marcus C.
An absolutely awesome bag! Outperforms much more expensive brands aconsidering it's price, which makes it a permanent bag for me. You can obviously tell neeve has a passion for creating incredible gear and it shows so well on the Wallaroo. I can't wait to grab a quilt next!
Scott R.
It is a great looking and light pack that is durable, comfortable and fits a good load in it and carries it well.
Riley H.
I recently completed a 4-day hike on the Cooloola Great Walk, and I must say the Wallaroo backpack exceeded my expectations. As a first-time hiker, I was a bit unsure about my gear, but this bag held up admirably throughout the journey. It provided ample storage space for all my essentials, and the comfortable straps made the long hikes a lot more bearable. The durability of the Wallaroo backpack impressed me, and I would highly recommend it to fellow adventurers. It truly made my hike a memorable experience!
Dougal A.
Really happy with this pack. Has been very comfortable, great quality and feels really durable. Awesome value compared to other lightweight packs out there.
Scott M.
Great light weight pack , I’m 6”3’ and the large fits me well enough , seems to take a lot of punishment
Scott
Beautiful bit of kit at an affordable price point and supporting a local Aussie company. I can't wait to try more designs when they launch. It is much roomier than I anticipated as well.
Leon P.
Very happy with the pack only problem was the waist buckle coming open under pressure when trying to take some weight off shoulders. Could improve side bungee cord adjustment and front pocket. This thing is so light I now use it as a day pack it just holds so much. You need to be clever how you pack with a load to stay comfortable. Value for money outstanding.
David R.
Awesome backpack - took it out on a a overnighter - super light ultra comfortable
Sam B.
Took it out for 3days and was super comfortable and held my kit well. Carried about 12kg at the start.
The waist adjustment system is the best I've used, super snug. I did have the waist clip pop open a couple of times but seems you just need to be conscious it clips right in. Top Y strap holds gear well. Shoulder pocket fits my 500ml Nalgene well and side pockets could fit 2 1litre Smart Water style bottles if needed.
The only thing I'm concerned with is the very fragile stretch mesh on the front pocket. No holes yet but it feels pretty delicate.
Jason G.
WOW, looks the goods.
Went from an 20 year old Mountain-Smith to this, saved 1.6 straight up.
Had to pack it in excitement, 3-4 days worth with food and water and was able to fit a few luxury items like a pillow, air pump and ground sheet and came in under 10kgs.
Fits nicely on the back and love the KISS design.
Cant fault for the price, excellent service and super quick delivery.
Tom D.
Used it for the first time last week. Managed to fit everything without making the pack too wide. The mesh back pocket takes my sleeping mat (and a zip lock bag of food) nicely. In the photo I have my tent in a dry bag across the top, but if I'd lined the pack with garbage bag the tent would have fitted inside anyway, and I could have saved a few 100 grams. The water bottle pouches on the shoulder straps, and the zipped pouches on the waist belt are perfect. I'm sure it's not as bullet proof as my Savotta, but the weight saving and out of the box usability make it superior.

Good quality and very well priced
Andrew M.
Super light and very comfy on the back. Bashed my way through some thick scratchy undergrowth and it held up fine, no marks or scratches. It could do with a small zip pocket on the main pack but otherwise great for minimal light hiking.

Great backpack! Just took it on a 5 day hike of NZ and fit all my gear in whilst still being comfortable. Highly recommend if you’re after a great value and good quality lightweight pack!
Geoffrey S.
The Wallaroo pack is very comfortable to wear. The wide straps and accessible pockets really help with distributing the load and making access easy.
One concern is the buckles. They don’t automatically align when pushing them together and so can force you to concentrate more in buckling up, than on just gearing up and going on the trail.
I can’t easily reach a water bottle in the one lowered side pocket, so forced to work off a smaller bottle in the front straps. Not sure about the mesh choice in the back pocket for durability. Good for stretch and taking more cargo like rain pants and jacket though. Overall still a good pack and one I’ll keep for years. I’ll work around the concerns and issues.
Jonathan S.
A great bag, super comfortable I'm 6" exactly and went with the larger size and it fits perfectly
The padding on the arms is fantastic, the belt pockets are a great size and in a great position. My only request is that there be a spot to put a water bladder inside the bag and maybe a somewhere to put a water tube for my bladder through, I understand not everyone needs/wants that though.
The build quality is great and it's super lightweight. Also it's great to support Australia gear manufacturers/designers. Keep up the great work Neve Gear.
CJ
First fitting and loving the feel. Great unisex shape. Roll top doesn’t sit terrifically with a light load but will make some adjustments so not so floppy. Side elastic straps could do with a toggle to compress if full capacity not required. Will be a keeper though ready to hit trail with.
Martin J.
Surprisingly comfy, this bag is a light weight and very well considered bit of kit. Have a lot of experience with gear, in particular, bags, I'd highly recommend this one!
Alistair B.
Excellent lightweight pack. Has everything you want and nothing you don’t need. Picture is of the pack loaded for a late winter AAWT hike. Materials, zippers and clips are made tough. Pockets and pouches a perfect size, and front pouch is ideal for drying tent or jacket. Harness has just the right amount of adjustment for a variety of body types to dial in comfy-ness.

Fantastic postage. Very prompt. I used the pack on a day hike only so far. It rained and the pack kept things dry. I found the pockets on the shoulder strap too grippy to place my phone in there but its made for water bottles so I get that. The clips don't align easily when trying to seat them, I found myself having to visually align them when adjusting which was annoying. The comfort of the arm straps and the hip belt was great for a lightweight pack. The three outter pockets are really good for easy access items like water bottles and medical kits etc. My favorite feature is the double strap and thumb loop for the hip belt adjuster. Pulling towards the centreline of the body and not away. Very smooth process. All up it is a fantastic simple design and I look forward to using it on a few overnighters to get me through. Would recommend!

This is a great pack for the price and the quality is good..
Early days but am happy with this purchase.
Rohan S.
Good quality pack with padding in just the right spots. Fantastic hip bet tension system with good sized pockets.
Peter H.
Only used on overnighter so far but it is great, plenty of room and good carry. Will be using for 3 night highland Tas trip in March 24. Should be ideal.

The Wallaroo 45 arrive last Wednesday. Impressed! It weighed in on the digital scales at 0.81 Kg. The internal volume of 45 liters is enough to swallow my Osprey Stratos 50 pack (1.8 Kg). I tried a number of available ultra-light backpacks for fit and realized the S/M was my size (19" torso). I have walked Maroubra Beach to Coogee Beach and return with loaded main compartment only, to 7 Kg gross, and carried out adjustments. My intention is to reduce the load to between 5-6 Kg gross for 2 months walking across Spain Aug-Oct.
Andrew N.
Took it on an overnight hike on the weekend and really happy with how it carried. Only had 12kg in it but it felt much lighter thanks I love it! Looking forward to receiving my quilt now!
Declan T.
Well thought out pack at a fantastic price point. I'm a huge fan of the reverse pull hipbelt. Have only done about 50kms so far with weights varying from 5 to 10kg, will do a further update after a bigger multiday hike but no complaints from me yet.
